Yesterday I went to the water park only to sit by the giant wave pool. I love going to the pool, but a wave pool is a silly invention for me, especially on the east coat. The first time we went of the season, we swam all the way to the deepest end. When we reached the end I turned around to look back. I am in a giant faux ocean looking back at a stadium of beach chars. It occurred to me, why don't we just go to the beach. In Williamsburg we aren't too far from the beach, but instead we drive 8 minutes down the road to climb into a chlorinated wave pool. Don't get me wrong, it's supper fun & I love the water park (mainly for the wave pool & the lazy river) but for goodness sake why didn't we go to the ocean! A wave pool on the East Coast is like a building a slab of concrete in Arizona & calling it an attraction. We've got water here & they've got dry and barren landscapes in Arizona. I'd understand a wave pool in Arizona....but sheesh.
Anyway we had a good old lazy Saturday yesterday. Water Country also has a little conservation area named Conservation Cove where I got to touch a baby alligator!!! I should have gotten a picture, he was cute & didn't seem to care too much that some chick was holding him while little kids (and 20 somethings) came up to touch his little back. He was cute.
Today I'll be at the Botanical Gardens here at home with my parents & gramma. We are going to go take some pictures & just have a good old time. I think I am going to get a disposable camera & destroy it then take pictures with it today. I've seen this done here, here, here, & here. I think I'll buy a few & throw one in the pool, scratch the lens of another, & see if I can pierce holes in another.
What are you going to do today?
We've got the ocean close by, too, but I prefer the pool if I'm going to actually go *in* the water. I'm also just not a fan of salt water or ocean waves when they're kind of big.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the beach for strolling in the surf with your pant legs rolled up or for inspecting tide pools. But for lounging and swimming? Pool all the way. :)
i love this. :)

One of my favorite things to do when we visit disney is to hit up the wave pool..so much fun! But then again we live in the midst of the prairies..hence the novelty!

Being a spoiled Michigan girl, I really hate salt water! I'd probably be hitting the wave pool instead of the ocean, hee hee. I love that idea for destroying a disposable camera. I'm gonna go pick one up too!
