I start every post about goals like this - I'm no good a keeping goals but I really like setting them. I think that I'm not good at keeping up with goals but I eventually get to them at the end. Here in the next week or so I'm going to do a recap on the goals I set for 2013 (see that post here) but today I want to share with you a new strategy for setting goals this year. I firs saw something like this on A Beautiful Mess I believe. It was a post along the lines of Four Simple Goals set during a single month. I feel like I have a lot of things I want to accomplish this year now that I feel like I'm recovering from the changes that happened in 2013. So in order to keep up with myself I'm going to go ahead with this post but I'm also going to schedule a few more posts through the year with some of the bigger goals so I don't forget!
I have a lot of home related goals I'd like to accomplish this year so I'm planning on doing at least one (hopefully two) big house related goals a month. Then one goal related to a 516 endeavor & one relationship goal. So here are my Four Simple Goals for January:
Clean out the spare bedroom completely for guests & hang the mirror in the guest bathroom
We have someone coming to visit oh so very soon and we need to get cracking on the guest room clean out. Don't you just love how you can put things in a guest room & close the door? It's like they don't exist - how wonderful. Until someone needs to actually stay with you!
Clean out the vintage stock from the garage to prep for the using it as a studio
It's time to do some refocusing with the 516 stuff we've been doing. We're closing the vintage shop & probably doing some sort of flash sale to clear it out. It was fun but not something either of us could maintain at this point in our lives. It was a great year though! It's time to turn the garage into the space it was meant to be - a workshop for Zach & I. Hopefully this year we'll be more creative together!
Organize the Stationery shop to fit Zazzle's new store structure
Zazzle not so recently redid their storefront structure for sellers. I don't quite like it because it's not as customizable but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do especially when you run off of someone else's structure. This year is the year of focusing on Zazzle's design options because with no effort I'm still seeing a few sales trickle in. So it's time to refocus - if you want to read more on my thoughts on this selling on Zazzle, read this post. I'll be doing a more in depth post about refocusing the 516 brand & my efforts later on in January!
Find another restaurant to add to our favorites list
While we shouldn't be eating out all the time we've recently hit the jackpot with finding amazing restaurants to eat at. Most recently we've found a delicious Mexican restaurant that makes the freshest & just out right awesome Cali-style Mexican food. Yum, yum, yum!! It's called Mucho Mas & it's a short drive from us. There seem to be a lot of different restaurants in that area so I can't wait to try more!
I really hope I can keep up with these Four Simple Goals through 2014. I think breaking things down in to chunks will be so much easier! I plan on doing a few months of just shop goals as well but I think breaking it down to all facets of my life (& our lives!) will help us grow. So now I'm off to write a few more goals down & schedule them to post so I don't forget!!!
Happy New Year!
xoxo, Moe
